दक्षता, सावधगीरी व सावधानता हे शब्द नेहमीचेच प्रत्येकाने ऐकलेले. आजच्या धकाधकीच्या जीवनात माणसाला हवी आहे सुरक्षीतता. कुणाला पैशाची, कुणाला संपत्तीची तर कुणाला कुटुंबाची आणि त्यासाठीच प्रत्येकांची अपेक्षा असते ती पोलीसांकडून मिळणार्या सुरक्षिततेची. त्यात आपण हे पू्र्ण पणे विसरलेलो असतो की थोडीशी दक्षता बाळगून आपणही कुणाला सुरक्षा देऊ शकतो.
समाजात मूठभर लोकांनी दहशत माजविली आहे आणि त्यामूळे हा महाराष्ट्राचा माणूस या अत्याचारांना सामोरे जात आहे. कारण आपल्यात असलेला संघटनेचा अभाव. आपण जाती धर्माच्या विळख्यात अडकून पडलो आहे आणि यातून आपणात न होऊ शकणारी एकता ही मूठभर दहशतवाद्यांना सुवर्ण संधी देत आहे.
दररोज नित्यनियमाने समाजात घडणारे प्रकार जसे चोरी, लबाडी, मारहाण, सोनसाखळ्यांची पळवणूक दिवसेंदिवस वाढत जाणारे हेच प्रकार उद्या रौद्र रुप घेऊन महाघातक बनणार आहे यात शंका नाही याला थांबविणे शक्य आहे गरज आहे ती फक्त सावधानतेची व दक्षतेची.....
नागपूर शहराच्या ४० लाख जनसंख्येत मानेवाडा स्थित जवाहर नगर परिसरातील नागरिक श्री. सुरेश भामकर यांनी नागरिकांमध्ये जागरुकता निर्माण व्हावी या हेतूने पोलीसांच्या सहकार्याने सन १९९५-१९९६ मध्ये एक छोटीशी संस्था स्थापना केली. व आज ही संस्था पोलीसांच्या खांद्याला खांदा लावून गून्हेगारीला आळा घालण्यास मदत करत आहे व नागपूर शहरात ती दक्ष नागरिक फाऊंडेशन या नावाने कार्यरत आहे. जनतेनी घेतलेली दक्षता व दिलेला भारघोस प्रतीसाद आणि यातून समाजातील दृष्ट कृत्यांना बसलेला आळा बघता सर्वच स्तरातून कौतूकाचा वर्षाव होत आहे. निव्वळ नागपूर शहराचाच नव्हे तर महाराष्ट्राचा प्रत्येकच नागरीक हा दक्ष नागरिक बनावा व या महाराष्ट्रात होणारे दृष्कृत्य ,शोषण आणि भ्रष्टाचार यालाही आळा बसावा हा आमचा प्रयास आहे.
The Commissioner of Police Nagpur, Shri Praveen Dixit and DAKSH NAGRIK FOUNDATION'S Genral Secretary Suresh Bhamkar introduce the scheme 'Daksh Nagrik Foundation and police mitras'. It has assumed a significant role in checking crime rate. There are 2800 persons working as "Police Mitras" in different police stations of Nagpur City. And this is not the first time that the friends of khaki have helped the police to arrest culprits before the crime being committed. Buoyed with the visible check in crime rate, more local people are proving to be of help for the police. Of the 250 'police mitras' is about 35-40 young boys in their mid-20s are more than willing to help police check crime in the area. The reason for police mitras is not only to reduce the crime in the area but also to improve police-public relations. It is the chance for police to instill faith of the people on police. The 'police mitras' come from diverse backgrounds. Some are unemployed, have minimal education, reside in slums and then there are a few others who are employed but want to contribute in their own little way to boost community policing without any monetary reward. It is their conviction towards a crime free society that has made the role of 'police mitras' so significant. A group of about six 'police mitras' patrol either on foot or bike with a police constable from 12 midnight to 5 am. After completing their daily chores, these enthusiastic youths are back at the police station at 6 pm asking for the night assignment. A startling thing is those even women are coming forward. Women as 'police mitras' are always on toes to help women victims of domestic violence. They try to resolve differences between couples and these gutsy women do not hesitate in acting against illicit liquor dens.
DAKSH NAGRIK FOUNDATION take this opportunity in appealing to the general public to cooperate with the police. More people should come forward and enroll themselves as POLICE MITRA. Together we shall effectively prevent crime and maintain law and order....
